Tomorrow Is Darwin Day

Tomorrow is Darwin Day (February 12th).  It is sad that Charles Darwin does not have his own national holiday.  But for religious fundamentalism, he would, for such has been his contribution to the world.  Of course, Darwin was not the first person to discover evolution, but he was the first to discover evolution by natural selection.  And, thanks to him, evolution is today a household word.  Medical science, I hope, and the prospects look good, will one day eliminate many of the diseases that afflict so many people i.e. cancer, Parkinson’s Disease, etc.  If and when scientists do, thank Charles Darwin (and some other folks too, of course).  For we would not know about genetic mutations and genetic variants without the discovery that life evolves.  Thank you, Charles Darwin.

About lessthanorthodox

Former Deacon in the Charismatic Episcopal Church. Was ordained to the Diaconate in 2002, but over the years, I found myself becoming more progressive in my thinking, theology, and politics. In 2009, given my evolving beliefs, I decided that I was no longer comfortable remaining in the Charismatic Episcopal Church. I decided to leave amicably. I am currently attending an Episcopal Church here in Alabama. Regarding interests, I play the piano, love golf, play pool, and am married to a wonderful wife, Pam. In addition, I love to read history, philosophy, theology, science and pretty much anything any other geek would read.
